ABOUT ME
I'm a 25 year old girl who was born and raised in Bombay. The city, it's pace, the hustle, none of it has grown on me. I enjoy a slow paced, calm and lone way of life.
Photography is something I've been passionate about ever since I was a little child. Being able to take the most simple photograph that captures the mood, always fascinated me. Then, in the 11th grade, I won a photography contest and that was my turning point. That was the exact moment I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life - tell stories through my images.
I have suffered my own share of illnesses, physical as well as mental and have overcome bullemia as well as depression. Through my coming work I wish to showcase these mental disorders and help do away with the social stigma that comes with it.
Education:
I did my schooling from Greenlawns High School, Mumbai and graduated from H.R.College of Commerce and Economics in Mass Media, Journalism. I have studied photography in short courses from a number of institutes .
Experience:
As a student, I took up multiple independent assignments and a number of freelance jobs. This helped me gain insight into the commercial aspect of Photography and how different industries, especially digital media, treated Photography. Very few industries today continue to treat Photography as a form of art and this is one thing I wish to change through my work. I also had the opportunity to assist Vishal Kullarwar, an Indian commercial Photographer after which i began to travel around India and evntually started leaning towards the field of documentary photography.
